Descrizione

The report was prepared by the Regional Veterinary Epidemiological Observatory (OEVR) of the Experimental Zooprophylactic Institute of Puglia and Basilicata and by the Health and Welfare Promotion Section (PSB) of the Department of Health Promotion and Animal Welfare of the Puglia Region.

It describes in detail the verification, inspection, audit and sampling activities, as well as the Other Official Activities planned, carried out by the SIAN, SIAV A, SIAV B and SIAV C Services of the Prevention Departments of the Local Health Authorities, carried out within the Multi-Year Regional Control Plan (PCRP) relating to the Puglia Region. This plan was issued pursuant to Article 109 of Regulation (EU) 2017/625 and Article 3 of Legislative Decree 27/2021, which regulate the activities aimed at ensuring Food Safety and Animal Health.

All the activities described in the report were carried out by the various services in compliance with the Prime Ministerial Decree of 12 January 2017 on the subject of “Definition and updating of the essential levels of assistance, pursuant to Article 1, paragraph 7, of Legislative Decree 30 December 1992, no. 502” which establishes the “new” Essential Levels of Assistance (LEA) which, in the context of Collective Prevention and Public Health, set indicators for Food Safety, for the protection of consumer health, for Animal Health and for veterinary urban hygiene.

The integrated analysis of the results of the controls carried out in 2022 by all the Administrations involved in the implementation of the PCRP, as well as the data and information contained in the information systems, has made it possible to confirm the enormous volume of work carried out in compliance with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2017/625, as well as the high level of inter-institutional collaboration in order to ensure the consistency and effectiveness of official controls and other official activities throughout the regional territory.

We take this opportunity to highlight the important role played by this Institute, together with all the other actors of the Prevention Departments of the Local Health Authorities of the Puglia Region and ARPA, in safeguarding human and animal health, in the consolidated perspective of a One Health approach, in order to maintain a high level of protection of human health, animal health, plant health and food safety.
